3.2 Shares and security settings

Before installing the database you should check the share and security settings

and modify these if necessary. Missing shares or wrong security settings could

be the reason why database installation is not succeeding.

3.2.1 Network access for MS SQL Server 2005

TIS-Office can also be used with MS SQL Server 2005 or the licence-free

MS SQL 2005 Express Edition.

If you want to install TIS-Office in an MS SQL Server 2005 environment,

network access must be enabled before installing the program.

There are two ways to do this:

• Use the MS SQL Server 2005 configuration tools.

• Make the necessary settings in the operating system’s registry.

9 Close the registry editor.

10 Restart the computer before installing SQL Server 2005 Express or SQL Server

2005.

Some changes and entries will only take effect after the computer has been

rebooted.

Important

After the TIS-Office installation environment is prepared, check the working

environment of all applications that work with a database.

Check the functions of the applications (open, edit etc.) and thus the individual

database connections.

Important

For information on TIS-Office programme folder share approvals please refer

to Chapter 5.2 "Shares and settings" from page 5-3.

Tip

If TIS-Office is not installed completely, the database directories may be write-

protected. As a result, the program can once again not be installed.
