1.3 About this document

Target users This guide has been written for both users that want to install programs for the

first time and for system administrators. Therefore it is inevitable that when

reading this guide you may feel that it is not addressed to you either because

the procedures described are familiar to you or because the topics are not

relevant for you.

You can easily start installing the TIS-Office stand-alone version on a brand

new computer. With existing computers we recommend that you read

Chapter 3 "Preparing for installation". You can then take the necessary

preparatory steps so that you can detect and take into consideration any

problems that could occur.

Information for system administrators: Some descriptions in this guide will

certainly not contain any groundbreaking news. However, you will find useful

tips that will make it easier for you to install the Client/Server version in

particular.

What you should know This documentation assumes that you have gained practical experience of the

operating system you use and its conventions.

If you want to install the Client/Server version, you should be familiar with:

• local networks and

• database management.

Depending on your current operating system settings you must also have

administrator rights or the permission to install programs.

The left hand column…
